Recorder in running for five gongs at NI Media Awards

17 June 2015

THE Down Recorder has been shortlisted for five awards in the prestigious CIPR NI Media Awards.

The Recorder, which was last year named Local Newspaper of the Year at the awards ceremony, has once again made the final cut for best weekly paper.

It has also, for the first time, reached the shortlist for Front Page of the Year, a category in which it is competing against the Belfast Telegraph, Irish News, Sunday Life and Sunday World.

Senior journalist Joanne Fleming has once again made the shortlist for Local Newspaper Journalist of the Year, a title she won in 2011. She is also the only local journalist to be named a finalist in the Feature Journalist of the Year category.

The Down Recorder’s Hugh Carville has reached the shortlist for Production Journalist of the Year for the fourth consecutive year.

He is also the only weekly production journalist among the five finalists.

The winners will be announced at a presentation ceremony at The Mac Theatre in Belfast next Friday night.
