Recognise Terry George

SIR, — Filmmaker Terry George deserves the heartfelt congratulations of East Down in general and Killough in particular for his excellent short film, The Shore.

Without doubt his winning of an Oscar will help put our part of Co. Down on the tourist map and I believe is worthy of even further recognition. Perhaps Down District Council will, on behalf of the people it is said to represent, consider how best this can be achieved.

I am sure, despite the austerity cuts and everything else, the mandarins on Strangford Road can release the purse strings a little to enable this momentous achievement to be deservedly acknowledged.
