LOCAL potter, Helen Faulkner, is inviting people into her studio to have a go on the pottery wheel to coincide with the ‘Great British Pottery Thrown Down’ starting its second TV series tomorrow.
Helen has been a potter for several years working in Kilkenny before moving back to Northern Ireland as the Artist in Residence in Down Arts Centre, Downpatrick. This is part of a Craft Northern Ireland scheme supported by Invest NI.
Helen said: “Throwing is something anyone can try, it’s a chance to have a go at something new, it’s a lovely feeling to drink your tea or eat your cereal from something you have created.”
Helen will guide those taking part on how to throw a pot on a potter’s wheel and provide all the materials. At the end of the session pots are left to be fired in the kiln and collected at a later date.
Available dates are February 18, March 25 or April 29. Each session is one hour costing £35, including all materials. Contact Helen to book on 028 4461 0747.
