Police no longer seeking anyone for town ‘stabbing’

POLICE are not seeking anyone else in connection with an alleged robbery and ‘stabbing’ in Downpatrick.

Last month a woman in her 50s was rushed hospital following an incident in the Grove Shopping Centre in Downpatrick.

A man had reportedly tried to wrestle a bag from her as she left the post office and witnesses reported blood on her clothes.

A police spokesman said: “A 54 year-old female has been interviewed by police and will be reported to the PPS in due course.

“Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to this incident and would like to thank the local community for their positive response to this enquiry.”
