Police issue alarm after ‘drugs’ find

7 June 2017

POLICE have advised parents to take care after a suspected drugs package was found near where children were playing.

An eagle-eyed member of the public recently came across the package on the grassy slope leading from Pegasus Walk to the Ballynoe Road in Downpatrick.

On the PSNI’s Facebook page, police said: “They are a sort of green crumbly tablet with ‘heineken’ printed on them. They were packaged up along with a white powder.

“Apparently there were children as young as four playing close by them.

“They are quite unusual so I wouldn’t like to guess what they are but they have been sent to be forensically tested.

“In the meantime, please be aware where your children are and who they are playing with.”

Police have asked if anyone has seen anything like this package before, or knows who owns it, to call them on 101, quoting reference number 358 31/05/17. Alternatively, they can speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
