Poetic response from horseman

SIR, — Recently we heard from Dek who,

Keeps fit by hurdling poo,

May I first reassure,

That this horse manure,

Poses no health risk to you?

And though these deposits aren’t cash,

Nor should they be thought of as trash,

One only supposes,

That Dek has no roses,

Or he’d have them away in a flash.

I nonetheless deem that Dek’s right,

We riders ‘ere should be polite,

If our horse makes its mark,

On a path in the park,

We should go back and sideline its…

(I couldn’t think of a rhyme here before the publication deadline, but perhaps Dek will understand the sentiment)

Yours etc,

HORSEBACK BARD OF STRANGFORD,

(name and address supplied).
