PSNI appeal for public’s help to identify suspected thieves

15 October 2014

THE PSNI has released CCTV images of 13 people they would like to speak to in connection with alleged criminal offences across the district.
The 13 are wanted for questioned into a number of incidents, including allegations of shoplifting and thefts at commercial premises during 2014 and 2014.
The officer in charge, Detective Inspector Harry Colgan, said in the past year, local police have noted an increase in the number of incidents of shoplifting and theft being reported.
“We have been focussing efforts on tackling this including engaging with local retailers to identify ways in which we can work together to address the issue and identify offenders,” he said.
“We have previously released images of individuals that we were keen to speak to in relation to incidents of shoplifting. We had a great response from the public and the process assisted in a number of people being identified.”
Thanking the public for their help, Detective Inspector Colgan added: “I am now asking the public to look at the latest images we have released. There are people out there who will know the identity of these people and I would appeal to them to come forward with that information.”
Detective Inspector Colgan also appealed directly to those featured in the images to contact police.
He added: “I would ask anyone who believes one of the images is of them to contact us immediately in order to help us with our enquiries.”
Anyone with information should contact police on the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, information can be given to the Crimestoppers charity anonymously by telephoning 0800 555 111.
