One flag please

SIR, — Come St. Patrick’s Day in Downpatrick this year I hope Down Council will insist that the only flag on display in the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade in Downpatrick is the Cross of St. Patrick and that all other flags are left at home.

May I also suggest the Cross of St. Patrick be the only flag flown from the offices of Down Council and from Down Cathedral in whose graveyard St. Patrick is said to be buried.
