Oakridge Care Home 'saved' from closure

Oakridge Care Home 'saved' from closure

2 December 2015

THE residents and staff of a Ballynahinch care home which has been earmarked for closure have been given a ray of hope.

Four Seasons Health Care, which owns the Oakridge Care Home, on the Magheraknock Road, has revealed that another care group has expressed an interest in buying the local home.

Spa Nursing Home Group has reached agreement with Four Seasons on the “key purchase of the home” and the final sale is now awaiting legal agreements and approval from regulators.

Four Seasons has confirmed that if the sale yes through then the existing staff would transfer to the new owners.

“This would mean that residents who remain in the homes would continue to be cared for by the people who are looking after them now,” said a Four Seasons spokesman.

“We had come to the decision to close the homes with great reluctance and so we welcome the possibility that they will continue to provide care. We will do everything we can to help facilitate a smooth transfer of these homes to new ownership with no disruption to the care of residents and continuity of employment.”

Spa Nursing Home Group has five residential nursing homes.
