SUPERINTENDENT Paul Reid has taken up the post of District Commander for Newry, Mourne and Down.

Supt Reid has moved to the area from Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon where he held the position of Performance Chief Inspector.

The new District Commander, who replaces Superintendent Simon Walls, has almost 30 years policing experience.

“I am delighted with my new appointment and am keen to build on and develop the excellent work and partnerships which already exist here,” he said.

“I look forward to working with my new colleagues and the community across Newry, Mourne and Down.

“I am also pleased to welcome Chief Inspector Joe McMinn and Chief Inspector Bernard O’Connor to the management team.

“Chief Inspector McMinn will take over the role of Performance Chief Inspector and Chief Inspector O’Connor will take on the role of Community Engagement Chief Inspector in a temporary capacity.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to prevent, detect and deter crime across Newry, Mourne and Down.”
