New Down business body set up

New Down business body set up

15 July 2015

A NEW business networking group has been set up in the Down area.

Meeting fortnightly, Down Business Connect has been formed by likeminded business men and women with the aim of making new contacts and helping to share business advice and expertise.

Down Business Connect has already grown to 16 members after just five meetings, and is calling upon other businesses in the area to join the group.

The chairman is Brendan Kearney, who said Down Business Connect was established to provide a supportive network of contacts and opportunities for business growth for local businesses.

“Our Group is growing and members have already made new contacts and received new business leads,” he said.

“With only one company represented per sector, there’s huge potential for learnings and growing members’ businesses, therefore we would encourage any local business people who want to explore new avenues for business growth to try Down Business Connect.”

The group aims to provide an effective forum for the various businesses in and around County Down, providing advice, information and support for members, strengthening the Group and in turn helping with the economic growth of Down District.

The new Networking Group is open to new members and invites local businessmen and women to attend the next meeting on Tuesday, July 28, at Down Business Centre, Downpatrick.

South Down MP, Margaret Ritchie, has welcomed the establishment of the group as an important initiative which seeks to generate business activity at a time when the region is coming out of the economic downturn, and when the NI Executive and the local community, including the Council, is facing budgetary and financial challenges.

“Much more can be achieved in terms of the economic regeneration of the local community through collaboration between the business/retail/commercial centre with the NI Executive and the local council,” she said.

Congratulations to all involved.  My door is always open to this new group as it seeks to broaden

and sustain the business offering and facilities within the wider Down area”.
