Ms Anne Woods

ANNE Woods, of 6 Leaside Gardens, Downpatrick, passed away after a short illness in Kings Castle Nursing Home, Ardglass, on May 14.

Anne was born in Belfast on March 27, 1964, the middle child of Seamus and Elizabeth. The family relocated to live in Downpatrick and  Anne attended St Mary’s High School.

Anne loved life and was passionate in everything she done. The children of the Flying Horse loved her just as much as she loved them. Anne made everyone’s childhood memorable, from games of rounders to picnics and walks to Struell Wells.

Even children from other areas made their way up to Anne’s to do some fun activity — she was called the Pied Piper of the Flying Horse.

Anne played in goal for Ballyvange Ladies’ Football Club, which she loved, and also enjoyed a game of bingo.  Anyone who met Anne liked her and everyone who knew her loved her. Many called her ‘big Anne’ because of her big personality and she loved music of all types.

Anne lived life to the full until illness stopped her doing the things she loved.  In 2013, Anne suffered a stroke and was confined to a wheel chair. However, this didn’t put her down or stop her from loving life.  She was still loved by everyone and still loved the craic, always laughing with family and friends, and never once feeling sorry for herself.

Anne had two sons who she brought up alone and idolised. Her boys wanted for nothing and loved her unconditionally.

In March 2019, Anne took ill again and died peacefully with her loving family with her. She was 55 years old.

Anne is survived by her loving sons, James and Phillip, daughter-in-law Charlene, granddaughters Chloe, Estella and Jessica, brothers Seamus and Paul, sisters Martina and Collette, nieces, nephews and wider family members. Rest easy Anne.

She lived and laughed, and loved and left.
