Mrs Peggy Stranney

MRS Peggy Stranney, of Ballylucas Road, Downpatrick, who died in Slieve Dhu Nursing Home, Newcastle, on April 28, was a retired domestic assistant in Downshire Hospital. She was 84.

She was a loving wife to her late husband, Pat, and a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Mrs Stranney was a woman with many interests. She enjoyed going to the fairs in Castlewellan, and played darts for her local team, McLeighs at Ballynoe. She liked listening to music, as well as singing, dancing and socialising.

In her younger days she enjoyed helping out on the family farm and always had a warm welcome for callers, who were usually greeted with a cup of tea.

Mrs Stranney is survived by her sons, David and Brian, daughters Anne, Marie, Frances and Rosemary, brothers Joey, Fred, Sean
and Brian, sisters Eileen and Maureen, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

Fr. Peter O’Hare celebrated requiem mass in St. Patrick’s Church, Legamaddy, on May 1.
