Mrs Mary Denvir

THE community in and around Killyleagh was saddened by the death of Mrs Mary Denvir, of Kerry Drive, who passed away in the Ulster Hospital, Dundonald, on August 20. She was 77.

Mrs Denvir, who was predeceased by her late husband, Seamus, was born on January 19, 1941, in Shrigley, one of nine children. She moved to Killyleagh when she was ten and worked most of her adult life in Killyleagh Castle with her sister, Monica.

In later life, Mary volunteered in the local community shop in Killyleagh, where she made many dear friends. She was a woman of deep faith and enjoyed her pilgrimages to Lourdes, Fatima and Knock, as well as her holidays with the ‘Golden Girls’. Mary also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening and reading.

Family was extremely important to her and she cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren.

The whole Killyleagh community are both saddened and shocked by her untimely death and she will be sorely missed by everyone who was lucky and fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna, son Brian, son-in-law Davy, daughter-in-law Susan, grandchildren Laura, Ryan, Kelly and Jamie, brothers Jackie, Tony and Adrian, and by a sister, Monica 

The funeral mass in St Mary’s Star of the Sea Church, Killyleagh, on August 23 was conducted by Fr Brendan Smyth, PP.
