Mrs Christine Butler

MRS Christine Butler, of Lynn Doyle Place, who died on February 5, was a much loved mother and grandmother. She was 66.

She was born in Kilclief, one of a family of eleven and was predeceased by her mother, father and sisters Philomena and Rosemary.

She worked in a fish factory in Ardglass after leaving school. She married Charles Butler in 1977 and moved to Scotland, where their only child was born a year later.

She returned home several years later and enjoyed an active life. She loved bingo, going to social clubs with friends and going on various outings. She was an accomplished seamstress and was much in demand to sew and mend clothes.

Above all, she was devoted to her family. Her grandchildren meant everything to her and she spoiled them all.

The funeral mass in St Patrick’s Church, Downpatrick, was celebrated by Father Maurice Henry and was followed by interment in St Malachy’s Cemetery, Kilclief, where Mrs Butler was laid to rest alongside her mother, father and sister Philomena.

Mrs Butler is survived by her daughter, Caroline, son-in-law Michael, grandchildren Lauren, Joel, Alicia, Cion and Shaena, brothers, sisters and the wider family circle.
