Mrs. Maggie McMahon

MRS. Maggie McMahon, of 12 Oaklands, Darragh Cross, passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 8, 2014, and will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.

Growing up in Kilcoo, she attended the local primary school and later St. Malachy’s Secondary School in Castlewellan. She was keen on sport from an early age. She joined the running club in Newcastle and played camogie for Kilcoo and Darragh Cross, as well as Gaelic football for Bryansford.

Her love of music and dancing took her to the All-Ireland disco dancing championships in 1992, where she finished third — a tremendous achievement for her.

Married life eventually took Maggie, her husband Mickey and family to Darragh Cross after living in Newcastle for five years. Maggie supported her husband and children in hurling, football, camogie and boxing.

Maggie loved life and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, who have been left with many happy and good memories. She made many friends through her work and always had plenty of time for other people.

Maggie’s passing will be mourned by all who knew her, especially by members of her family — her husband Mickey, daughter Kerri, sons Mark and Rhys, brother Peter and sisters Maria and Angela to whom the sympathy of the community is extended.
