Mrs. Kathleen Keown

THE community in Castlewellan was deeply saddened by the death of Mrs. Kathleen Keown at her home at Upper Square on September 15. Aged 91, she was hugely admired and respected by many people.

She was a retired bookkeeper who enjoyed art, reading and knitting. First and foremost in her life was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who loved celebrating family occasions.

Fr. Anthony Owens conducted the funeral mass in St. Malachy’s Church on September 17, which was followed by burial at Aughlisnafin cemetery.

Mrs. Keown is survived by her daughters, Margaret, Patricia, Kathleen, Brigid, Frances and Angela and sons Tony, Michael and Danny. She is also survived by her brother, Danny O’Boyle, his wife, Violet, 30 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charlie, and son Cahal.
