MRS. Elizabeth Hanna, who passed away at her home, 51 Saul Street, Downpatrick, was a devoted wife and mother.
Born in Erinagh, Legamaddy, in 1921, she worked as a nurse in her earlier years and married her husband, Tommy, in 1947. They had seven children — Kate, Angela, deceased, Deirdre, Gerard, twins May and Martina (deceased at birth) and Tommy Jr.
She came from the well-known Poland-McKay family from Mourne and took a great interest in the importance of education and family. She imbued these values in her children and grandchildren.
Until recently she had a lively interest in the plots and characters of her favourite TV soaps, especially Fair City. She had a remarkable memory and welcomed the visits of all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Hanna died peacefully on September 1 surrounded by her loving family, aged 93.
Canon Sean Rogan and her grandnephew Fr. Brian Watters conducted the funeral service on September 3. Interment was at St. Patrick’s cemetery, Saul.
