Mr Thomas Kelly

MR Thomas Kelly, of Ballynahinch Road, Castlewellan, passed away at Dundonald Hospital on July 3 at the age of 70.

Tommy, as he was widely known, is survived by his loving wife, Annie, son Aidan and his partner Tracey, daughter Oonagh and son-in-law Paul, and grandchildren Lauryn, Aaron, Oohran, Ellie and Riley. 

He also leaves behind his twin brother, Sam, three other brothers, Pat, Dermot and Kevin 

(Teconnaught), and sisters Ann-Marie Burns (Slievenisky) and Peggy McCullough (Douglen).

Tommy was born in Teconnaught and worked as a bricklayer.  He began working with McGrady Bros in Drumaness before joining Bovaird & Ferguson and later Savage Bros and McLaughlin Harvey. 

He also worked in the Isle of Man and Guernsey for ten years before returning home. 

Tommy was a member of Claragh Bridge Men’s Club which he enjoyed very much. He loved holidays with his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was a sporting man who enjoyed playing skittles and bowls and watching sport on TV.

Mr Kelly was a well-known character in the Drumaroad area and beyond and will be missed by many people, especially his devoted wife, Annie, and his wide family circle.

Requiem Mass at St John The Baptist Church, Drumaroad, on July 6 was celebrated by Fr Anthony Owens.
