Mr Patsy Burns

MR Patrick James (Patsy) Burns, of 13 De Courcey Way, Dundrum, who died recently at the age of 69, will be fondly remembered by many people as the owner of the Happy Days novelty shop in Newcastle.

The shop in Central Promenade, which Mr Burns operated for 15 years, was an Aladdin’s Cave for customers of all ages who delighted in the merchandise, which includes jokes, magic tricks and all sorts of games and toys offering fun and entertainment.

Away from his shop, Mr Burns enjoyed music, particularly show bands, and travelling.

A well known figure in Newcastle and Dundrum, Mr Burns was a great family man who was devoted to his wife, Emer, daughters Siobhan and Deborah, sons Richard and Brendan, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
