Mr Martin McGreevy

THE passing of Mr Martin Frances McGreevy, of Kennedy Square, Downpatrick, and more recently of Kings Castle Nursing Home, Ardglass, in the Royal Victoria Hospital on November 6 has saddened his family and many friends. He was 53.

The son of the late Mary and James McGreevy, he was born on October 17, 1962, and was “the baby” of the family.

He worked as a baker and as a night security man at the vehicle test centre in Downpatrick. He also repaired fences at Downpatrick racecourse and had a life-long love of horse racing.

He was an avid Manchester City supporter, enjoyed Irish country music, took a keen interest in local and world affairs, and also enjoyed socialising with his friends.

He was also partial to a game of cards, especially poker, and would give his winnings to his nephews, Darran and Colm, whom he adored.

Kind and generous, easygoing and always smiling, he had a happy-go-lucky nature and will be sadly missed.

The funeral Mass in St Patrick’s Church, Downpatrick, was celebrated by Father John Murray and Father Maurice Henry.

Martin is survived by his sister, Rosaleen, and his nephews.
