MR Joe Degan, a retired textile worker from Crossgar, has died at the age of 85 and is greatly missed by his large extended family.
The former Lislea Drive resident passed away at Strangford Court Nursing Home in Downpatrick.
A great lover of television sports, in his time Mr Degan played bowls for Downpatrick Bowling Club, skittles for Carman’s Inn of Crossgar and enjoyed doing all manner of crosswords and quizzes.
His requiem mass on June 13 at the Church of the Immaculate Conception and St Joseph, Crossgar, was conducted by Fr Brendan Smyth and his remains were interred at Holy Family Cemetery, Teconnaught.
He is survived by his wife, Anne, sons Joseph, David and Callum, stepdaughter Annemarie, sisters, brothers and their respective families.
