Mr Gerald Breen

MR Gerald Breen, of Downpatrick Road, Strangford, has passed away at the age of 74 in King’s Castle Nursing Home, Ardglass.

A retired nurse, Gerald spent his life helping others. He started his career in Purdysburn Hospital and then spent several years nursing in a Birmingham hospital before returning to Purdysburn for the rest of his career.

A quiet man, he took each day as it came and enjoyed darts, horse racing and football.

Gerald lived alone after his father’s death but always had his family around him.

He is survived by his brothers Bernard, William, Laurence and Noel and his nieces and nephews.

The funeral mass at St Malachy’s, Kilclief, on August 15 was officiated by Fr Peter O’Kane, followed by interment in St Malachy’s cemetery.

He will be sadly missed by his brothers in Birmingham, Southampton and Strangford, and nieces and nephews, at home and abroad.
