Mr Brin Lewis

MR Brin Lewis, of Ballyhornan, who died on June 26, aged 72, was a great man who will be widely missed.

After retiring to Northern Ireland from England 15 years ago, Brin was involved in many community and voluntary organisations.

He was the radio operator for Newcastle RNLI and also Newcastle harbour master. He was on the custody visitors’ team for the PSNI, as well as being a member of the Court Witness Service and the Prison Monitoring Board.

He also served as a member of the Citizens Advice Bureau, the Ballyhornan Community Association and was latterly on the board of Downpatrick Credit Union.

Having played rugby in England and Wales, he joined Ballynahinch Rugby Club and was an enthusiastic player and supporter of the Evergreens side.

Blessed with an immensely charitable and caring nature, he always helped those in need, whether it was a hot meal or a bed for the night.

He leaves behind his wife, Sandra, to whom he was married for almost 49 years.
