Mr Alan Beers

MR Alan Beers, of 24 Inishmore Killyleagh, who passed away recently in the Downe Hospital, was a much loved and respected member of the Killyleagh community.

Alan, who was 70, was an internationally acclaimed artist whose paintings were to be found in galleries and private collections around the world.

Born and raised in Killyleagh, he returned to his home town in 1994 where he found his true inspiration — his love of landscape and nature.

Alan had a passion for art which he imparted to people of all ages through his teaching at local art groups.

He was also a highly talented musician and will be fondly remembered by the many people he entertained at various venues in the area. He was a outstanding singer and had a close connection with many other local musicians.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Rosemary, children Jaimie, Katharine and Rachel, grandchildren Joshua, Mollie, George, Bobby, Poppy and Daisy, sons-in-law Patrick and Alex, daughter-in-law Lucy, sister Arlene and brothers Mervyn and Gordon.

The funeral service in Second Killyleagh Presbyterian Church on Monday, September 12, was conducted by the Rev Hiram Higgins.
