Mr. Rodgers Beers

MR. Rodgers Beers, of 5 Beechvale Road, Killinchy, passed away peacefully in Lagan Valley Hospital on October 3 at the age of 88 and surrounded by his loving family.

Rodgers is predeceased by his wife, Agnes, and is survived by his son Jim, daughter-in-law Irene, grandchildren Paula and Stephen, and the wider family circle.

A retired bus driver and factory worker who was well known in the local community, he always on hand to help anyone in need, but first and foremost in his life was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother.

All who knew Rodgers would describe him as a hard-working, kind, thoughtful and generous man, who was one of life’s true gentlemen.

Always a keen gardener, he took pride in his own garden along with looking after the gardens of relatives and neighbours. He always kept busy, never complained and was able to fit in his walks each day.

Even though diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2011, Rodgers still managed to keep active and give a helping hand to others in Ringdufferin Nursing Home while he was able.

Rodgers’ funeral took place on Monday, October 6, from his late home in Killinchy followed by burial at Killinchy Old Meeting House green. He will be sorely missed by all those who were fortunate to love and know him.
