Mr. Patrick Brady

MR. Patrick Brady, who passed away peacefully on August 25 at his home, 183 Crew Road, Ballynarry, Kilclief, after a brief illness, was a well known figure in local GAA circles.

Known to his family and friends as ‘Sherlock,’ he was a very popular member of the Kilclief community and is sorely missed.

He spent all his working life in the building trade, but it was his love of farming for which he will be most remembered.

His other main love was the GAA. He was a playing member of the successful Kilclief football team of the 1970s and up until recent weeks was a permanent fixture at all Kilclief senior football matches.

He was a loyal and ardent follower of the Down senior football team and travelled all over Ireland to support them.

A real character who loved life, he fought bravely against his illness in recent months. He was held in high regard by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

His popularity was reflected in the large attendance at his funeral which held in St. Malachy’s Church, Kilclief. A touching requiem mass was conducted by Fr. Brendan Mulhall and burial took place in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr. Brady is survived by his partner, Joan, the Brady family and friends.
