Mr. James Savage

MR. James Savage (Jim), 72, was a well known accountant in Saintfield since 1968. He passed away peacefully at the Ulster Hospital on October 13.

James is survived by his wife, Helena, his son Grenville, daughters, Rhonda, Claire and Naomi, daughter-in-law Pauline, son-in-laws Kenneth and Simon, grandchildren, Jake, Marc, Byron, Hollie, Willow, Cocofaye, Harvey Jane and Nicholas.

He treated all those with whom he came into contact with the same kindness and respect.

James had many clients from all over the country. He was a man of adventurous spirit, who was always open to trying new things. He loved his gadgets and having the first type of any ‘new toy’.  He had one of the first mobile phones and domestic computers in Northern Ireland.

Jim got his private pilots licence in the sixties and owned his own aircraft. He loved flying and went to Salisbury in England to keep up his flying hours as well as spending a lot of time in Florida and San Francisco learning how to fly light aircraft, microlights and helicopters.  He was an active member of the Ulster Flying Club.

James loved photography and had his press pass on show at many motor sport events and on occasion his amateur photographs made it into the papers, once the front page of one of the national newspapers.

He used to drive Land Rovers and was also keenly interested in water sports like motor boating and scuba diving. His four children have carried these pursuits into their own careers or hobbies.

James’ funeral took place on Wednesday, October 15, from his late home in Saintfield followed by burial and a Service of Thanksgiving at Kilmore Presbyterian Church. He will be sorely missed by his wife and family and all of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
