MR. Henry Francis Crawford, of 25 Tareesh Lane, Loughinisland, passed away at Downe Hospital on Sunday, September 1, aged 91.
A retired farmer, Henry was a single man who lived on the lane all of his life, working on the family farm and tending to the walls and land around the area. He enjoyed a long, healthy life until recent times but bore any challenges with great dignity and appreciation of the life he had.
Henry was the oldest child born to Margaret and Patrick Crawford. In his youth he had a keen interest in gaelic football, playing the game and watching it. He devoted his life to supporting his parents and making the most of his time here.
Henry had a great faith and this kept him going during recent times. His pleasant and quiet manner was well respected by those who visited the Tareesh Lane home. He had a great memory, recalling vividly things that had happened many years ago and bringing a smile to many faces.
Young and old came to St Macartan’s Church, Loughinisland, for Henry’s funeral on Tuesday, September 3, the Very Rev. Father Kieran Whiteford officiating. Family and friends joined in celebrating the simple and faithful life that Henry led. Burial took place in Teconnaught Cemetery.
Henry is survived by his brothers Willie, Tom, Kevin, Danny and Brian.
