Mr. Donald O’Hare

MR. Donald O’Hare, who died at Downe Hospital on August 16 was a respected member of the communities of Ardglass, Dunsford and Downpatrick. He was 70.

The eldest son of Cathal and Eileen O’Hare, of Russell Park, Downpatrick, Donald was a retired electrician and had ended his career as a much respected employee of the Locksley electrical engineering firm.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa, sons Peter, Stephen, Gareth and Michael, and daughter Brenda.

Donald enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his treasured grandchildren, Ruari, Shane, Lucy, Katie and Michael.

He had a keen interest in photography and was often found with camera in hand at functions and gatherings, snapping family and friends.

He had a great knack for telling a yarn and his keen sense of humour kept his spirits up in his later days when illness came to him — a battle he courageously, with acceptance and without complaint.

The Rev. Fr. Robert Fleck celebrated requiem mass in St. Mary’s Church, Dunsford, on August 19. The attendance of so many friends from near and far, past and present was a great comfort to his family and a fitting tribute to a much loved character.

Donald will be sadly missed by his family, the wider family circle and all who knew him.
