MR. Dermot Cusack, who passed away suddenly in Lecale Lodge Nursing Home, Downpatrick, on December 26, was a retired psychiatric nurse. He was 64.
Dermot was the eldest of eight children and was brought up in Saul where he had a happy childhood with his parents, siblings and neighbours.
The family moved to Downpatrick around 1970. Dermot trained as a nurse at Purdysburn Hospital before taking up a Staff Nurse post at Downshire Hospital where was a caring and dedicated nurse before retiring due to ill health.
He will be fondly remembered as a genuine, thoughtful and kind person, and a generous and loving brother and uncle.
Requiem mass in St. Patrick’s Church, Downpatrick, on December 30 was conducted by the Very Rev. Fr. Maurice Henry, after which Dermot was interred beside his parents, John and May, in St. Patrick’s cemetery, Saul.
He is survived by his brothers, Eamon, Michael and John, sisters Mary, Anne, Carmel and Roisin, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
