Mr. David McClure

MR. Matthew David McClure, of 9 Orchard Drive, Killinchy, who died peacefully at his home, was widely admired and respected.

Mr. McClure, who was 67 and a retired civil servant, had strong connections with the Lecale area.

He played table tennis in the East Down Churches League in the 1960s and, latterly, bowls for Killough Parish.

In the summer he enjoyed fishing off the rocks at Sheepland, near Ardglass. He also enjoyed attending Kilmood Music Club every Monday night.

Mr. McClure was a very quiet and unassuming man, qualities which helped him deal with his illness, which was diagnosed in 2012 and which he bore so admirably.

He is survived by his wife, Ann, mother Susan, sister Muriel and the family circle.

The funeral service in Ardglass Parish Church on February 3 was conducted by the Very Rev. Henry Hull, Dean of Down, the Rev. Graham Savidge, and the Rev. Stanley Gamble, rector of Killinchy and Kilmood parishes.
