Miss Christina Morrison

MISS Christina Morrison, of 14 Russell Park, Downpatrick, passed away in King’s Castle nursing home, Ardglass, on May 16. She was 92.

Chrissie, as she was known to all, was born on Christmas Day, 1926. She was the daughter of William and Annie Morrison and sister of Terence, Molly, William and baby Josephine.

She worked for many years for the De La Salle Order and also for the Lannin family. She was a very kind and selfless lady, who was always smiling and singing. No task was too much for her.

She dedicated her life to the care of her mother and father, and later to her nieces and nephews.

She was a great baker and was renowned for her apple tarts and Christmas puddings. On a Sunday evening she enjoyed nothing more than listening to John Bennett on the radio.

Chrissie’s health deteriorated over the past 12 years and sadly dementia took hold. She was cared for firstly at Ardview House nursing home, Ardglass, and later at King’s Castle.

Fr Brendan Smyth conducted the funeral service in St Patrick’s Church, Downpatrick, on May 19, which was followed by interment at St Patrick’s Cemetery, Killough Road.

Chrissie is sadly missed by her nieces, nephews and family circle. May she have found perfect peace.
