Matthew sings to help Hopsice at Christmas

AN award winning Downpatrick vocalist has released a CD of favourite songs in time for Christmas, and in aid of the Northern Ireland Hospice.

At just 15, Matthew Campbell has a number of accolades under his belt, including the title of Best Male Voice in the Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) recent award ceremony.

A member of St. Patrick’s Choral Society, the talented musician has had the privilege of singing for Irish President Mary McAleese and was also nominated by St. Patrick’s Grammar School for Outstanding Achievement Award with the South Eastern Education and Library Board.

His CD My Way, which is available for £5 at local outlets, reflect Matthew’s musical influences — Josh Groban, Michael Buble, and Frank Sinatra — and include songs from his recent award winning performance in Les Misérables.

Recorded at home, initially as a means of documenting his musical career to date, Matthew and his family decided the CD could be put to better use.

“I knew the Northern Ireland Hospice were looking for funding and I knew this way it would be appreciated more,” he said.

All proceeds raised will go to the Northern Ireland Hospice. My Way is available for sale at the St. Patrick Centre, Downpatrick, Gordon’s Chemist, Downpatrick, Smyth’s Newsagents, Newcastle and the Newcastle Centre.
