Man admits guilt after thefts from Ulster Bank

23 March 2016

AN Ardglass man has admitted stealing £11,000 from the Ulster Bank when the bank’s IT systems shut down four years ago.

Fifty nine year-old Peter Young, of Hunter’s Way, changed his plea to guilty when he appeared at Downpatrick Crown Court on Tuesday. He stole the money on June 22, 2012.

He was rearraigned on the charges at Downpatrick Crown Court last Tuesday, pleading guilty to 22 separate counts of the theft of £500.

It is understood the charges relate to machine cash withdrawals during a period of IT problems for Ulster Bank.

Young has been released on continuing bail pending the product of a pre-sentence report. He will appear at Downpatrick Crown Court for sentencing on April 12.
