Loughinisland victim's daughter to replace Hazzard at Stormont

16 June 2017

THE daughter of a man murdered in one of Northern Ireland’s worst terrorist attacks is to replace Chris Hazzard as one of Sinn Fein’s South Down MLAs.

Emma Rogan, whose father Adrian was murdered by UVF terrorists in the Loughinisland pub massacre in June 1994, will be unveiled as the new MLA tonight at a special event in Downpatrick.

Mr Hazzard has to stand down from the Assembly after being elected as the new South Down MP in the recent Westminster election.

Ms Rogan is a prominent member of the Loughinisland Justice Group that has been battling to uncover the truth behind the attack on the Heights Bar when six men were murdered as they watched a World Cup soccer match.
