Loughinisland in complete control as Gordon reigns

Loughinisland in complete control as Gordon reigns

12 August 2015

IF Loughinisland are to win this year's IFC then they are going to have to improve a number of

aspects of their play after this unfulfilling display against Bosco.

A dour first half saw the teams level pegging at 0-6 to 1-3 at the break.

The Newry men made a blistering start with Aaron Beattie minoring and Daniel Graham hitting the net after excellent build up play from Gavin Moan.

The ‘Island were playing against a moderate breeze and they soon got into gear.

Rory Mason and Aaron McClements registered from play with Mason then bagging a free before Stefan Mason opened his account.

A second Rory Mason free put Jerome Johnston's team in the lead for the first before the teams swapped scores before the break with the dangerous Aaron Beattie registering his second and third points of the contest.

Loughinisland improved dramatically on the restart as Bosco waned.

The Newry side couldn't cope with the masterful Dan Gordon around the middle of the park as the former county man urged his team on.

Rory Deegan put the East Down side one up before Gordon registered.

Aaron McClements got the Blues’ first goal after some great interchange between Stefan Mason and Conor Killen.

Paul Digney popped up for a point before Stefan Mason found the net after being assisted by Digney.

Bosco had gone by this stage, but the ‘Island were being very wasteful in front of goal.

McClements soon had his second goal and then tagged on a point.

Bosco managed a couple of late post splitters as sub Paddy McKenny put a seal on the battle with a point for the winners near the end.

Paddy Magill and Conor Byrne tried hard in the Bosco rearguard while Chris Duggan competed valiantly at midfield.

Neil Tumilty did his best to make things happen in the forwards with Gavin Moan and Aaron Beattie dangerous on occasion.

Paul Digney, Sean Cochrane and Dan Gordon were assured in Loughinisland's defence.

Rory Mason was busy in the attack with Stefan Mason showing well and Rory Deegan impressive.
