Littering in Saintfield is a problem

SIR, — The issue of dog fouling in Saintfield has been rightly raised in these pages in recent weeks but there is another environmental issue that I would like to see addressed.

For most visitors to the village, Saintfield must appear to offer a litter free environment - but this is only because groups such as the Saintfield Development Association and the council regularly lift rubbish which is casually discarded

in certain areas.

Probably the worst is the top car park, beside the Health Centre and Library. This is an area where young drivers regularly meet up, to little or no annoyance to people living nearby.

However, the practice of a small number in the group to discard take away packaging etc gives all within the group a bad name - especially when there are bins in the car park itself.

Yours etc,

ANTI-LITTER,

Saintfield.
