LEYTON Savage was the player in red hot form in the minor section at the Killyleagh Summer League on Wednesday night.

The seven year-old has been in impressive form since the league kicked off for a new season and last week he set a personal goalscoring record.

Matthew Quinn also got among the goals with the two Jacobs, Walsh and Watters, impressing for the losers alongside Riley Pickering who was a defensive stalwart.

But performance of the night came from five year-old Finn Sharvin who moved up from the tinies for the first time, and despite playing a year ahead of his age, he put in a five star performance with his tackling and passing.

Top performances too from Alexander McCourt, Finlay Ayton, Riley Marshall and Kai Gordon.

Bella Henderson, Myla Killops, Alyvia-Beth Thompson, Demi-Rose Breen, Lexie Withers, Amelia Munyangaju, Eloise Moore also showed up well.

The minor penalty queen was Lexie Withers, with Leyton Savage and Finn Sharvin the penalty kings.

Jadon Rogan, Caleb Clifford, Finn Patterson and Charlotte Bennett caught the eye in the pre-school and early years groupings.

Eliza Cheevers, Arabella Thompson, Rocco Rice, Rosa Hagan, Jack McCourt, Mason Marshall, Ava Rose Thompson, Regan Pickering and Axel McDowell enjoyed their night.

 A number of players competed for star billing in the senior section.

Harry Anderson, Alex Moore and Kayden Blaney scored the pick of the goals. The Henderson brothers, Liam and Mason, also had a night to remember with solid showings.

Artur Bondapenko, Lloyd Barker, Bailey Withers, Jake Craig, Ollie Nelson, Sam Bridges, Harry Simpson played well.

For the girls, Amy Quinn, Caoimhe Sharvin, Scarlett Lawlor, Cara Carlisle and Chloe Brown starred.

The senior penalty kings were Sam Bridges and Liam Henderson, with Cara Carlisle the penalty queen.

The league continues at 7pm tonight, with the seniors (P5 to P7) at 8pm. 

The summer scheme is being supported by the David Cross Foundation for Peace and Reconciliation.

The Irish FA is to stage a summer holiday football camp in Killyleagh. It will take place over five days from Monday, July 4 to Friday, July 8 from 10am to 1pm. Parents can register their children via the IFA website.

On nights of very heavy rain, there will be no action.
