The event was being held for the first time since Carl Fogarty hoisted the trophy aloft in 1988 and Kirk added his name to the memorial cup after closing out victory by almost two seconds from Gerard Kinghan.

Third place in the nine-lap race went to Crumlin man Stephen Thompson, who was riding the Penz13.com BMW S1000RR he will ride at the Cookstown 100 this Saturday before the North West 200.

The top six was rounded out by Robert English, the leading 600cc rider, Robert Kennedy and Ryan Rainey, who made his racing comeback at Bishopscourt over Easter.

Kirk, who also notched a double in the Superbike class, pocketed a cheque for £1,000 for his efforts in the feature race of the day.
