Killyleagh does not deserve the actions of mindless vandals

SIR, — At the risk of yet again highlighting the despicable actions of a few individuals, I have to say that I was greatly shocked and saddened to see the extent of the graffiti scrawled all over Killyleagh last week.

I was particularly concerned that the Baptist church hall and the town’s library were targeted by a few people who obviously have low self esteem and very little respect, either for Killyleagh or themselves, to carry out such a mindless act.

It is obvious their target was the PSNI which in itself speaks volumes, but there is no one in Killyleagh that will support such action.

Killyleagh has a close community spirit that has proved itself time and time again. The town is quiet rightly proud of its achievements and does not require or deserve this type of publicity.

I therefore urge anyone who has any information as to who may have committed this mindless act to contact the PSNI immediately.

Yours etc.,

MR. JOHN HUDDLESTON,

Killyleagh UUP chairman.
