Kilclief triumphant in local derby clash

31 July 2013

A RESURGENT Kilclief came out on top in this one-sided Lecale derby at St Patrick’s Park.

The Red and Greens were on top from the word go as they dominated in all sectors. Leading by 0-5 to 0-3 at half-time, they kicked on in the second half with Conor Sloan grabbing their goal.

Sloan’s cool finish was the result of some fine build up play from Rory Sharvin and Eoin King. The free kick taking ability of Ciaran Sloan was crucial as the talisman finished with 0-6. He had good support in the attack from his brother Conor and Owen Curran.

Veteran Liam Woods was solid at the back alongside Ryan Kerr and Aidan McCann. Rory Sharvin had a fine game at midfield and was instrumental in a lot of positive Kilclief play.

Saul will have better days at the office, but despite their under par performance they did have steady performers in Mark Magill, Callum Laverty, Callum Mahoney and Cathal Arnold.

This Kilclief win gives them a fighting chance of avoiding the while Saul have now been dragged into the relegation dog fight after a run of poor results.

Kilclief scorers: Ciaran Sloan (0-6), Conor Sloan (1-2), R. Sharvin (0-1).
