Kickboxing trio ready for Ulster Hall

18 September 2013

THREE local kickboxers will be in action at the KICKmas spectacular at the Ulster Hall, Belfast, in December.

Davy Foster, from Ballynahinch, Darren McMullan, from Ballygowan and Tyrella sensation Samantha Robb are all on the card for the popular event on December 14.

Rising star Robb is the current British champion and will be contesting the WKN Amateur Light welterweight European kickboxing title under low-kick rules over four two-minute rounds.

Samantha is a real powerhouse and recently won three gold medals at the world martial art games in Geneva at three different fighting styles.

Foster is dubbed the nearly man of kickboxing. The Ballynahinch fighter is never in a dull fight and will have his last shot at British title glory.

He will bring his own fan club to the Ulster Hall to witness his third shot at British honours. It promises to be a good Kickmas for the father of five girls, who will be all at ringside.

McMullan will he hoping for glory when he takes on Ukrainian Sascha Alexander for the WKN 76kg world amateur middleweight title.

The return of the popular KICKmas show to the Ulster Hall, promoted by Prokick and Billy Murray, will also include emerging talents such as Karl McBlain, who lifted the WKN European Thai-Boxing title in Italy this month.

Murray said: “Christmas has come early for the sport of kickboxing in Ireland. What more could any fight fan wish for this festive season?”
