A FORMER Downpatrick girl has just been appointed head girl of her new school at the side of the world.

Keelah Sharvin moved to Christchurch, in New Zealand, in 2012, when her civil engineer father, Rory, moved to help with the rebuilding of the city after a devastating earthquake in 2011.

Keelah is a student at Christ the King school, in Christchurch, where she has become the first non New Zealand student to be appointed head girl.

Keelah’s grandparents, Brian and Donna Trainor, live in Downpatrick.
