Housing Executive head appointed

THE Housing Executive has appointed Owen McDonnell as the man in charge of its offices in Downpatrick and Newry.

He has been with the organisation since 1985, beginning his career as a clerical officer before moving up through the ranks. Over the years, he has held a variety of positions, including housing officer and assistant district manager.

Mr. McDonnell, who has been appointed housing services manager, said he wants to ensure the continued delivery of a comprehensive housing service to the residents of South Down.

“The Executive’s team in Downpatrick and Newry already has a reputation for a high standard of service which I look forward to supporting,” he continued.

Mr. McDonnell said he aims to build upon the already well-established good working relationships the two offices have with tenants and a network of local community groups.

He added: “The Executive’s South Down area matches the boundaries of the proposed new Newry, Mourne and Down Council and I am looking forward to working in tandem with elected representatives and council employees for the betterment of those who live there.”
