SIR, — The Strangford and Ardglass NI Hospice Care Support Group would like to thank the Downpatrick public who so very generously supported our annual flag day in the town on Saturday, June 30. In very hot weather, the excellent sum of £1,703.67 was collected.
We also wish to thank all of our 26 volunteer street collectors for their time and effort, our two tellers who counted the collection and Mrs Rosemary Porter, of Deeny’s Medicare Pharmacy, for allowing us to use the back of the shop as a pick-up and -off point for our collectors on the day.
NI Hospice is a local charity, each year caring for over 3,000 adults, children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, assisting and supporting them and their families.
Every penny raised for the NI Hospice is spent here in the province to meet the needs of local people.
The Hospice requires £5 million each year from voluntary income to enable it to provide adult services. Our 2018 Downpatrick collection supporting this vitally important work will be put to immediate good use.
We deeply appreciate the continuing generosity of Downpatrick folk and we want to most sincerely thank all those who gave on the day.
Yours etc,
RALPH FORBES,
Strangford and Ardglass NI Hospice
Support Group Hon Secretary.
