Help Macmillan cancer support

SIR, — I am writing to your readers on behalf of Downpatrick Macmillan Cancer Support Fundraising Committee.

We help fund Macmillan nurses and other health professionals locally and vital services nationwide to support people living with cancer at a time when it is needed the most.

Whether creating new services, adapting old ones, or speaking up on their behalf, Macmillan is doing everything possible to ensure people living with cancer get the support they so desperately need right now.

Our help is needed now more than ever. Coronavirus continues to leave people with cancer feeling isolated and alone and impacts on people’s care and treatment.

Macmillan is entirely funded by public donations and now faces a huge in income because of the current pandemic. Macmillan need your help so we can continue to be there for the thousands of people with cancer who rely on us for physical, financial and emotional support.

We know times are tough, but cancer knows no boundaries and continues to affect one in two of us. We really need to keep these vital support services in place, but we can’t do it alone.

We have followed government guidance and have cancelled all our face-to-face fundraising, which means we will face a massive decline in our income this year. ?

?We’re now asking people to give what they can via the Downpatrick Macmillan Cancer Support Fundraising Committee’s donation page. Log in to macmillan-org.charitycheckout.co.uk/downpatrick/profile. You can also login to the donation page by using the link on our Facebook page.

Please don’t forget that if you or anyone you know is affected by cancer Macmillan is right there with you.  For information, support, or just someone to talk to, call 0808 808 0000 (free to call seven days a week, 8am to 8pm), or visit www.macmillan.org.uk.

Yours etc,

MARY MAGEE,

Chairperson Downpatrick Macmillan Cancer Support Fundraising Committee.
