Harry delivers at Rockmount

SATURDAY wasn’t the forecasted wipe-out many had suggested. It was wet, but many braved the light rain for Week 13 of the Andrew Annett Winter League at Rockmount Golf Club.

Three players scored 27 points with Harry Parkinson (12) first and Andrew Holywood (13) second by way of count-back. The best gross score on the day with a two under par score of 46 for 12 holes went to Ryan Wilson.

Ryan’s card included three birdies at holes two, seven, and ten, a bogey at the fourth hole and eight pars, the course played on the day was holes 1-12 inclusive.

The low section (0-11) was won by Ed McDonald (06) with 26 points. The midsection (12-17) was won by Shaw McVeigh (14) with 27 points. The high section was won by Alistair Finnie (23) with 25 points.

In the four groups changes are a plenty. Last week’s Group A leaders The Bad and the Ugly have retained first place with 620 points, but last week’s second-placed team, There’s the Sleet I’m away in, have ped to fourth place with 614 points.

A team not previously mentioned, We’re Slicers Not Hookers have moved up to second with 617 points and Widow Twanky goes to Malahide remain in third on 615 points.

Group B leaders, Paddy one Putt, have had their lead cut from ten points to seven points they now have 628 points. Second, third and fourth remain the same as last week.

As You Were are second on 621 points, Mr Ivan’s Boys third with 613 points and Wear-Em-Out Wilfies fourth with 611 points. In group C top scorers Talk a Good Game are on 630 points and retain a healthy lead, but it has been cut by two points to 15 points.

Team TBA remain in second place on 615 points, The Handbrakers are third with 605 points and One Two Fee with the same points on 605.

There has been a massive swing in Group D. Last week’s leaders Sultans of Swing are on 613 points, losing their five point lead and now have a six-point deficit on new leaders The Drawshank Redemption who have 619 points. FAB remain third with 601 points and The Camel Hunters fourth with 599 points.

In the low section (0-11) of the singles competitions last week’s top two have swapped places Mark Kyle with 207 points and Ryan Wilson is first with 208 points. Three players share third on 203 points.

In the middle section (12-17) last week’s leader Brian Rea has dropped to fourth on 205 points with Frank Wallace moving up from third to first on 211 points. Charlie Lally remains second on 207 points and Russell McDonald third with 206 points.

The high section (18-28) sees no change. David Neeson, with 208 points, leads Colin Davis by three points and three players share third place on 201 points.

• 2013 lady captain Noeleen Houston presented her nominated charity Tiny Life with a cheque for £1579.60 this week. Valerie McVeigh from Tiny Life was on hand to gratefully receive the cheque at Rockmount Golf Club from the lady captain.

Tiny Life are Northern Ireland’s premature and vulnerable baby charity, dedicated to reducing premature birth, illness, disability and death in babies born in Northern Ireland.

Noeleen had raised the money during her captaincy year at various events and fundraising ballots and is very grateful to all who supported her nominated charity.
