Green Heights 3-a-side tournament is a big hit

11 December 2013

QUOILE Tavern’s Gary Carberry teamed up with Mills FC’s Emmett Rooney and Peadar Brown to win the recent 3-a-side tournament in the Green Heights.

• The Marie Curie 7-a-side semi-finals were played recently at the Quoile Tavern and great to see so much support from various teams in the league for this worthwhile cause.

A special mention has to be paid for exceptional conduct and respect by all the players in tribute to Nathan Owen (Green Heights) who passed away recently. Thanks to the venue for their support and for the food laid out on the night.

Other results: Quoile Tavern 4 Mills FC 2, Castle Inn 4 Murphy’s Bar 3, finals date and venue to be confirmed.

• There will be an inter league mixed charity blind pairs competition between the Down District Darts League and Downpatrick and District Ladies’ League, sponsored by Harmony Homes Estate Agents, to be held in Murphy’s Bar, Downpatrick, on January 6.

All proceeds this year are going to Baobab and Clic Sargent for Children and young people with Cancer. All players please return your sold tickets to your captains who in turn should forward them to team league representative as soon as they are sold.

Anyone wishing to donate to these causes can contact the Down District League treasurer on 07872 350049.

• It only remains for us to wish all the league players and their families a happy and peaceful festive season.
