SIR, — I would like to congratulate Aughlisnafin Accordion Band which organised a very successful variety concert in Clough Presbyterian Church Hall last Saturday evening.
Various performers took to the stage displaying the very best of Orange Institution and gospel talent.
The South Down band scene has many talented musicians who dedicate their time, teaching young people how to play musical instruments, passing on age old traditions, thus ensuring a continuity of energetic young members who will keep Orange bands marching on.
The first class performances on the night were delivered by the Aughlisnafin band, Castlewellan male voice choir, Orangefield Flute Band, David Wright, the McConnell family and Moneyslane Flute Band.
There was an encouraging turn out on the night, with the concert well supported by the local community. Thanks to the Aughlisnafin band and supporting members who provided supper and I wish the band continued success.
Yours etc,
ALAN LEWIS,
Clough.
